Description
Before Highway 50 was paved between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe, it was just a narrow dirt road that wound closely along the American River. Slippery Ford, aptly named because of its icy conditions during the colder months, was located deep in the canyon below what was Twin Bridges on Highway 50 in later years.
